ผศ.ดร.บัญชา ทองมี และนักศึกษาคณะเทคโนโลยีการประมงทางน้ำ มหาวิทยาลัยแม่โจ้ ได้ใช้ "ชีววิธี" (Biocontrol) ในการกำจัดไข่ยุงป้องกันโรค ไข้เลือดออก โดยแนะนำให้เลี้ยง "ปลาแกมบูเซีย" ซึ่งเรียกอีกชื่อหนึ่งว่า "ปลากินยุง" ปลาชนิดนี้นอกจาก จะเป็นปลาสวยงามแล้ว ยังช่วยทดแทนการใช้สารเคมีกำจัดไข่ยุง ซึ่งเป็นการช่วยรักษาสิ่งแวดล้อมแบบประหยัดต้นทุนได้อีกด้วย

หลายชีวิต ขอนำเสนอประวัติชีวิตของ...ปลา แกมบูเซีย... Gambusia affinis เป็นปลาพื้นเมืองของ ทวีปอเมริกาเหนือ โดยมี ต้นกำเนิดอยู่ที่รัฐเท็กซัส เนื่องจากปลาชนิดนี้มีศักยภาพสูงในการกินลูก น้ำยุง จึงถูกนำไปแพร่พันธุ์ ในรัฐอื่นๆของสหรัฐอเมริกา รวมทั้งในประเทศต่างๆ ทั้งที่ อยู่ในเขตอบอุ่นและเขตร้อน ซึ่งก็ปรากฏว่าปลาแกมบูเซียสามารถปรับตัวเข้ากับบ้านใหม่ของมันได้เป็นอย่างดี
